Our Friends...

Department of Water

The Northam Office of Western Australia's Department of Water (Swan Avon Region) have provided invaluable support throughout the life of the Toodyay Friends of the River. This support has been in the form of technical advice, and through the provision of materials and equipment.
The Department of Water's website is comprehensive, with river related issues and programs available for downloading.

Wheatbelt Natural Resource Management

Wheatbelt Natural Resource Management (Wheatbelt NRM, formerly the Avon Catchment Council), previously provided funding for the Avon Rivercare Program, where 'runs on the board' were gathering momentum. Under the new Caring for our Country Program of the Australian Government however, waterways (in Western Australia at least) do not get a gurnsey. As the Wheatbelt NRM Website alludes - "Watch this space".
The Wheatbelt NRM's new website provides much detail on natural resource activities within our region.

The Toodyay Naturalists' Club

The Toodyay Naturalists' Club Inc Celebrated their 40th Anniversary during 2008.
The Club's aims are to preserve and promote native flora, fauna and landscape values of the Avon Valley and other areas by exchanging ideas, supporting research, education, publishing and any other practical works that encourage the community to be aware of the natural environment and/or materially further its preservation and restoration.
The Nats' Club meets on the third Saturday of each month (except December and January) at the CWA Hall, Stirling Terrace Toodyay, or in the field. For times and meeting venue the Club can be contacted by email at the above address.

Toodyay Land Conservation District Committee

The Toodyay Land Conservation District Committee (LCDC) provides for leadership in soil and land conservation in Toodyay by identifying existing and potential land degradation, initiating land conservation projects, instigating research and promoting and marketing the benefits of landcare to the community.
The LCDC's Strategy for the Future has been produced by the LCDC for the benefit of the community of Toodyay. It sets goals for the community, revisits the history of landcare in Toodyay, and provides resource material for the identification of current problems and threats to sustainable land use within our community.
